The Vulnerable Children's Program of Lodwar was implemented as a response to a survey done in Napetet Village on the identification of vulnerable children found in that village. Napetet Village was a point of interest because its predominance of extreme poverty.
The program began with 40 children and has increased its intake almost ninefold since then. With optimal funding the total number of vulnerable children attending the program is around 350 (along with approximately 125 caretakers). The program is currently underfunded and provides limited care for around 100 children (Jan 19, 2016).
